My vehicle was damaged in a parking lot mishap and my auto insurance company only pays for aftermarket replacement parts. Should I pay the difference between the original equipment manufacturer parts (OEM) and the replacement parts?

It depends on a couple of factors. According to many auto insurance companies, there is very little difference in the quality of the two parts. The aftermarket parts can affect the trade-in value of your vehicle, however, so if you plan to trade it in soon you would be wise to consider paying for the more costly OEM parts. If you plan to keep the car for a long period, go ahead and accept your auto insurance company’s payment schedule and go with the replacement parts.
